Virgin Atlantic in the first week of March will resume flights between London Heathrow and Seattle and Washington, D.C., completing its “full roster” of U.S. destinations, the carrier announced Thursday. In addition, the airline will increase frequency on some other U.S. routes.

The carrier cited “renewed customer confidence” and a 50 percent year-over-year increase in bookings. “Following the relaxation of travel restrictions, we’ve seen demand increase to many of our global destinations, but particularly to our heartland in the USA,” Virgin Atlantic chief commercial officer Juha Jarvinen said in a statement.

Seattle flights resume March 2 with five weekly departures from Heathrow employing Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Washington, D.C., service will resume March 5, also with five weekly departures from Heathrow, but using an Airbus A330 airplane.

Destinations with increased frequencies beginning in March will include New York, San Francisco and Atlanta. In April, Virgin Atlantic will add a third daily flight to Los Angeles. The carrier also will operate Orlando flights from its four U.K. airports in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast.

The carrier announced in January new direct service between Heathrow and Austin, Texas, to begin May 25.

Virgin Atlantic also is offering a flexible policy on new bookings, with unlimited free date and flight changes though Aug. 31, 2022, including one free name change as well. Further, the airline has extended the date by which rescheduled travel can be completed by to Dec. 31, 2023, for all new and existing bookings.
