A Closer Look at The Best Plus-Sized Sweater Jackets

Talbots is always a great place to look for plus-size sweater jackets, particularly if you prefer plus-size petites, which can be really difficult to find. They change the product name and a few details every year or so, but in general you can find them by searching “sweater blazer.” (They’re generally $159-$189, but keep an eye out for sales.) While you’re there check out their Charming line for cardigans and Audrey sweaters — both have been reader favorites for years.

The Lauren by Ralph Lauren sweater blazer is another classic that has been around for years — Macy’s, Dillards, and Zappos often have a great selection. Again, the product name changes and the exact colors change, but it’s more or less been the same sweater for 10 years.

Readers LOOOVE the Woolf blazer, and have since it was introduced a few years ago — it’s great to see that they’re offering it in plus sizes now. As of October 2021 it looks like they’re down to lucky sizes, but I’m guessing that’s a supply chain issue as opposed to MM.LaFleur phasing the sweater out. So if it’s out of stock at the moment, be patient and keep checking back.

The company notes that the sweater jacket (they call it a “jardigan”) is hand washable and travel-friendly. They have a slightly shorter version, the St. Ambroeus jardigan.

The company in general is pretty size inclusive, with many pieces coming up to size 22W. Readers love that many of their clothes are machine washable and have little details (like pockets!).

This Nic & Zoe sweater jacket is sometimes called the Grace jacket, sometimes the Jogger jacket — it’s a nice thick knit material. It’s currently on sale for $75 at Lord & Taylor; it’s often closer to $200.

Lands’ End just came out with this fleece sweater blazer recently, so I haven’t tried it yet to see the fit and feel of the fabric. It comes in a TON of sizes in regular, plus size, petite and tall sizes, and it’s currently $39-$89. Nice. They have a longer version too if you prefer something that hits mid-thigh.
