Skyscanner Integrates TravelPerk’s Covid Data Service

Travel search provider Skyscanner has begun to incorporate data on Covid-19 travel restrictions and documentation requirements into its booking platform via TravelPerk’s TravelSafe API, the companies announced Thursday.

Launched in October 2020, TravelSafe was TravelPerk’s first service designed as a standalone product for the wider travel industry, offered as a monthly subscription. The API-based service integrates into third-party booking platforms and direct supplier sites, offering information on entry requirements as well as local restrictions, with data from official sources including the U.K. Commonwealth Office and local government entities.

In April, TravelPerk closed a $160 million Series D investment round, with a portion of the funding earmarked for the continued development of traveler safety features, including TravelSafe, to support the return of corporate travel in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
