New TripActions Tools Tackle Unused Tickets, Soft-Dollar Funds

TripActions has launched a new suite of tools that includes features to manage unused tickets of former employees and soft-dollar funds from airlines.

The unused ticket name change feature in TripActions’ “Hello, Savings” suite automatically transfers tickets from inactive employees to current employees. TripActions’ own data indicates that about 14 percent of unused tickets—many of which are set to expire this year—currently are assigned to travelers no longer with their companies.

About 10 percent of unused tickets in TripActions’ database already have expired, so the automatic transfer will give companies more opportunities to reclaim value of already-purchased tickets before it’s too late, product marketing manager Bill Pursell said in a blog post.

The suite also includes a feature to manage soft-dollar funds, credit that airlines include in corporate agreements for use in ancillary purchases and fees. Using the funds usually requires a manual process directly involving travel managers or agents, according to Pursell.

In addition, the suite features a “price-to-beat” tool that measures current market rates for travel costs to set a benchmark for travelers at the time of booking, according to TripActions.
