Latam, Azul End Codesharing | Business Travel News

Latam and Brazilian airline Azul have stopped codesharing as Azul is “actively exploring consolidation opportunities,” Azul CEO John Rodgerson announced in a statement.

Azul and Latam Airlines Brazil began codesharing in August 2020 on 64 domestic routes in Brazil, which Rodgerson said was “a unique solution in our pandemic response.” However, Rodgerson said that Latam had canceled that codeshare, which he said was a reaction to Azul hiring financial advisors earlier this year to look into consolidation opportunities.

“Azul is emerging from this crisis in a leadership position in terms of liquidity, network recovery and competitive advantages,” according to Rodgerson. “Our plans are unchanged, and I am confident that we are in the best position to pursue strategic alternatives at this point in time.”
