When I had my first internship in law school, the overwhelming majority of my professional wardrobe was from Target. Many years later, I’m delighted to report that it’s a great resource for putting together “grown-up” outfits without breaking the bank. T

These tapered, relaxed-fit trousers would be a great foundational piece for anyone in a business casual setting. Add a sweater and some loafers for a more casual day or blazer and blouse if you’ve got an important meeting.

The pants are $28 at Target and come in women’s sizes 0–18 and women’s plus sizes 14W–26W. They also come in four other solids and a very cute plaid print.
