Finnair has introduced 105 new electric-powered ground equipment vehicles as part of its plan to reduce its carbon footprint and achieve net-zero emissions in non-flight operations by the end of 2023, the carrier announced Monday. With the new vehicles, 45 percent of Finnair’s motorized ground equipment is electric or hybrid, according to the carrier.

Finnair also has replaced its plastic toothbrushes in business class and premium class with bamboo ones, provided by the Swedish company The Humble Co.

In addition, the carrier last year switched some shorter domestic flights to buses and launched carbon offsetting. Earlier this month, Finnair purchased 750 metric tons of sustainable aviation fuel from SAF producer Neste.

The projects are to help the carrier reach its target of being carbon neutral by the end of 2045, according to Finnair.
