How to Catch an Atlas Moth

The Atlas Moth is unlike other moths or butterflies you can find in Animal Crossing, as it only appears perched on the sides of trees – much like certain beetles.

They take on the appearance of very large creatures sticking out of the sides of trees, but are very prone to quickly flying away if you don’t see them in time. Once you spot one on a tree, walk slowly to toward it. Hold down your net to slowly get in range moving from the bottom upwards until you can cast your net to catch the moth before it flies away.

Note that if you try to approach the Atlas Moth from behind the tree it may fly away! Move around the tree and approach slowly from below for your best chance to catch it.
