The 31-year-old arrived in WWE in 2015 with much hype and became a major star in Mexico and Japan.

WWE has announced the release of former NXT champion Andrade. Following WWE Fastlane pay-per-view, the company confirmed that Andrade is no longer bound to his contract. WWE official social media handle also stated that the company has come to terms with his departure.

On March 12, Wrestling Inc.’s Marc Middleton first reported that Andrade had requested the company to release him from his contract. It was exclusively revealed that he asked WWE for his release while backstage at the March 8 edition of RAW. Andrade dropped the “WWE” from his bio on his official Twitter handle too, which further confirmed the rumour for fans.

Andrade, who had not been seen in action in months, had seemingly reached the breaking point following his stop/start usage on the main roster. His release request was initially rejected by WWE. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that earlier that week, Andrade asked for his WWE release but was denied. He seemed really disturbed in the Raw tapings with Dave Meltzer confirming both his request and the subsequent denial.

Andrade himself took to his Twitter handle to hint at the impending news. He confirmed his release on the micro-blogging platform, hours before the official announcement was made.

The 31-year-old arrived in WWE in 2015 with much hype and became a major star in Mexico and Japan. A founding member of Los Ingobernables, Andrade made his NXT TV debut in a win over Tye Dillinger at NXT Takeover. Post-WWE career, Andrade will not be short of suitors. The former La Sombra is also a former IWGP Intercontinental Champion and can be welcomed by NJPW. The talented performer can also expect AAA to take him on board with open arms.

While AEW is a potential destination for Andrade, the fans will have to wait to see his next step, going forward.
