Women Lead The 10 Biggest Songs In Korea This Week

After debuting inside the top five last week, IU’s new single “Lilac” has jumped the few spots left to become the singer’s latest No. 1 on the Gaon Digital chart…and that only tells part of the story when looking at her incredible and ongoing success this time around.

The Gaon Digital chart ranks the best-performing songs in South Korea every week, using both sales and streaming data.

IU fills six of the spots inside the top 10 on the latest Gaon Digital chart, which is actually a better performance than last week, when her album Lilac debuted atop its respective list. All half-dozen of the singer’s tracks are taken from that just-released set, and five of them improve from where they ranked last frame.

“Lilac” pushes “Rollin’” by Brave Girls off the throne, at least for now. That track marked the first ruler for the girl group in the decade they’ve been together.

Behind new champion “Lilac,” IU’s former leader “Celebrity,” one of the biggest hits of 2021, is comfortable at No. 3. Fellow tracks from Lilac “Coin,” “Flu,” “Hi Spring Bye” and “Troll,” a collaboration with DEAN, land at Nos. 4, 7, 8 and 10, respecitvely.

Lim Young-woong’s breakout smash “My Love Like Starlight” and Blackpink singer Rosé’s “On The Ground” both fall from where they ranked last week, finding homes at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. Down at No. 8 is Yoseob and Eunji (who are both known for their work in groups and now on their own) see their joint effort “Love Day” also tumble to No. 9.
