WWE NXT Results—Wednesday, March 31, 2021

Cameron Grimes def. Roderick Strong

NXT could have done better than “Grimes The System,” but they really committed to the bit with a “Grimes The System” voiceover.

This mach essentially mirrored the technical wrestling clinic that went on between Christian and Frankie Kazarian, except this match was far younger and more explosive.

Santos Escobar def. Tyler Breeze

This was a very competitive match considering it was really a showcase of Santos Escobar.

The Grizzled Young Vets can talk well and everything, but they could have been cutting the same exact promo every single week and I’d never know the difference.

Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell def. Gigi Dolin and Zayda Ramier

Gigi Dolin is the former Priscilla Kelly, and her and the former Angela Arnold were certainly not made to look like jobbers, though this match was short.

Shotzi Blackheart’s tank gimmick will singlehandedly vault her to the main roster, but hopefully not in a Matt Riddle-scooter kind of way.

Raquel Gonzalez def. Zoey Stark

Poor Zoey Stark has been shoehorned into the “good hand” role before she even got honest push.

The story of this night, across both shows, was surprisingly competitive matches and that continued between Stark and the monster Raquel Gonzalez. Stark even got a nearfall.

Tian Sha def. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter

This was advertised as Tian Sha vs. Kacy and Kayden, but Xia did all the heavy lifting herself and didn’t even get to bring her sword with her.

Mae Ying was technically part of this match, but for whatever reason, she didn’t have to stand on the apron and grab the tag rope. She just sat on her throne until Kayden Carter foolishly confronted her.

There was a toy dog featured throughout this show, and it was all a clever marketing ploy to promote a) WWE NXT’s move to Tuesdays and b) The potential debut or return of a women’s Superstar.

LA Knight Wins WWE NXT Gauntlet Eliminator Battle Royal

The order for next week’s Gauntlet is as follows:

  1. LA Knight
  2. Dexter Lumis
  3. Cameron Grimes
  4. Bronson Reed
  5. Isiah “Swerve” Scott
  6. Leon Ruff
