The Hurt Business Breaks Up

Time is WWE’s worst enemy during WrestleMania season as they’ve now managed to screw up the only angle that wasn’t tainted. Why is Lashley breaking up with The Hurt Business and looking for goons to take out Drew McIntyre when this feud previously thrived on the strength of two protected monsters?

The Hurt Business was a great homage to The Four Horsemen, now the wrestling world is stuck with a complete ripoff (of a ripoff) in The Pinnacle

Sheamus def. Riddle

This felt like MVP’s audition at the announce desk for when they break up the rest of The Hurt Business.

Sheamus seems to have all but punched his ticket to WrestleMania with a non-title win against Riddle, who WWE is grooming to be its next R-Truth.

After Sheamus bum-rushed Riddle backstage, I literally asked myself why nobody was running in to pin him. Riddle has been booked like such a clown, my brain automatically defaulted to thinking the belt he was carrying around was the 24/7 title.

Braun Strowman def. Jaxson Ryker

Braun Strowman was more blown up on the mic after wrestling a match than Shane McMahon usually is cutting his normal promo.

If Shane McMahon vs. Braun Strowman is going to be a Steel Cage Match, Kevin Owens will still be able to jump off the Pirate Ship the way he wanted to last year without worrying about Shane taking that spot.

Miz and Morrison Debut New Single “Hey Hey, Hop Hop”

John Morrison went out of his way to dress be as unlikeable as possible, strictly through his wardrobe.

All that work in Lucha Underground was not in vain because Morrison developed into a halfway decent parody of Reggaeton.

Bad Bunny has no sense of dramatic timing whatsoever as he didn’t even take his time breaking the Miz and Morrison posterboard, he just started hastily ripping it apart and some of it even happened off camera.

Bobby Lashley def. Shelton Benjamin

Tom Phillips wisely pointed out why Bobby Lashley was making things hard on himself by breaking up with his crew, potentially setting up matches with each of them over the next two weeks before WrestleMania.

Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin went from being tag team champions with just over a month until WrestleMania to being squashed out of the top stable on Raw. Talk about a violent fall from grace.

Game Night with The New Day, Omos and AJ Styles

It’s like WWE looked at every common-sense tactic to book a monster like Omos and aggressively decided to go in the other direction.

I love that Omos was the voice of reason in this segment.

The fact that Omos is wearing Mauve after saying it was his favorite color last week is the most storyline continuity you’ll see in WWE.

Xavier Woods def. AJ Styles by Disqualification

Omos was doing everything in his power not to laugh when Xavier Woods playfully staring at him before WWE Raw went to break.

Whenever WWE inevitably breaks up MVP and Lashley, I’d love to see MVP be Omos’ mouthpiece based on how he put the giant over on commentary.

Omos has sold nothing during his entire stint on Raw. Not a damn thing. That’s how you book a monster.

Naomi def. Shayna Baszler

WWE has teased more WrestleMania feud for Reginald than it has for Bayley.

The backstage segment after this match may have saved this entire show as Riddle appeared to legitimately forget his line and scooted out of the segment with poor Asuka left bewildered.

Rhea Ripley vs. Asuka Contract Signing

Rhea Ripley was definitely the heel coming out of this segment, but going in Asuka had the lead based on how much she condescended to Rhea.

Two weeks out from WrestleMania, both the women’s tag team champions want a Raw Women’s Championship because they know like everybody else that those titles mean nothing.

Drew McIntyre def. Ricochet

By putting a bounty on Drew McIntyre’s head, Bobby Lashley has accidentally turned the WWE title picture into the 24/7 title division.

People forget, but Ricochet and Drew McIntyre both combined to eliminate Brock Lesnar at the 2020 Royal Rumble just over one year ago.

MVP was a great instigator on commentary in this match.

Byron Saxton talked over an impressive sequence where Ricochet landed a belly-to-belly suplex on his feet.

There has been no stipulation that guarantees Ricochet will face Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania, yet Tom Phillips was convinced that a loss by McIntyre would derail McIntyre’s WrestleMania picture.

Drew McIntyre def. Mustafa Ali

Mustafa Ali is right back to being Mustafa Ali with no stable or purpose, just a pair of doo doo brown tights.

The only reason I stayed tuned past the final commercial break is for the hope that The Hurt Business would somehow get back together like the first hour was just a bad dream.

WWE is continuing to make up the rules as it goes along by having a SmackDown star jump in on the bounty against Drew McIntyre.
