Amazon Original Movie ‘Joji’ has been receiving an overwhelming response from the audience and critics alike ever since its release.

Yet another intriguing tale by successful trio – actor Fahadh Faasil, director Dileesh Pothan and writer Syam Pushkaran, Joji, apart from giving a fresh and modern twist to the world-famous tragedy, William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, also brings a truly contemporary touch to the narrative.

Joji is a story of greed and power set in the COVID era, becoming one of the first Malayalam films to be set in the pandemic.

Among the thousands of fans that the movie already has, is another, actor Gajraj Rao who recently took to his Instagram handle to share an appreciation post for the film and at the same time take a dig at the Hindi cinema and its ‘mediocre work’.

Terming Joji as “good cinema,” Gajraj Rao on Wednesday took to his Instagram handle and complimented the film’s team for “constantly coming up with original ideas and executing them with utmost sincerity.”

In his post, Gajraj Rao took a dig at Hindi cinema and its “tiring marketing campaigns”, “soulless remakes” and “obsession with weekend box office collections.”

He wrote, “Dear Dileesh Pothan and other Malayalam filmmakers (especially Fahadh Faasil & Friends), I recently watched ‘Joji’ and I’m sorry to say this, but I have a bone to pick with all of you. Enough is enough. It is not fair that you are constantly coming up with original ideas and executing them with utmost sincerity, making actually good cinema. You need to learn a thing or two from other regional cinema, and especially us here in Hindi. You need to do some mediocre work also. Where are the tiring marketing campaigns and promotions? Where are the soulless remakes? Where is the obsession with weekend box office collections? This is too much.”

“I hope you will not take any of this seriously, and continue the good work you are doing. In a non-pandemic world, I’ll always be ready with the popcorn for your films, first-day first show,” the self-proclaimed chairman of Fahadh Faasil Fan Club (Northern Region) added.

Directed by Dileesh Pothan and written by Syam Pushkaran, Joji is produced by Bhavana Studios in association with Fahadh Faasil and Friends & Working Class Hero. The crime drama features Fahadh Faasil alongside Baburaj, Shammi Thilakan, Alistair Alex, and Unnimaya Prasad, Basil Joseph and Sunny PN in prominent roles.
