WestJet this summer will restart suspended regional routes, restoring its “complete network of pre-Covid-19 domestic airports,” according to the carrier.

Service to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; Fredericton, New Brunswick; Moncton, New Brunswick; Sydney, Nova Scotia; and Québec City, Québec will resume in late June, WestJet announced. The carrier suspended service to all five airports in November. In addition, the carrier will restore service to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, from Halifax on May 6 and from Toronto on June 24.

WestJet president and CEO Ed Sims in a statement said he hoped the Covid-19 vaccine rollout would lead to “an easing of onerous travel restrictions currently in place” and that restoring the service was crucial “to ensure [communities] have access to affordable air service and domestic connectivity to drive their economic recovery.”
