Cardholders can earn five points for every dollar spent on gas, drugstore and grocery purchases up to $12,500 for the first six months of opening the account. Cardholders earn one point for each dollar spent on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for 50% more value when used to purchase airfare.

Rewards: The Wells Fargo Visa Signature Card earns five points for every dollar spent on gas, drugstore and grocery purchases for the six months of opening the account on purchases up to $12,500, and one point per dollar spent on all other purchases. The Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards credit card earns 3% cash back in a category of your choice, including gas, online shopping, travel, dining and drug stores, and 2% cash back at grocery stores and wholesale clubs. The 3% and 2% cash back earnings are eligible on up to $2,500 in combined choice category, grocery store and wholesale club purchases each quarter (then 1%). All other purchases earn 1% cash back.

Sign-up bonus: The Wells Fargo Visa Signature Card does not have a welcome offer. The Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards credit card offers a $200 cash rewards bonus after making $1,000 on purchases in the first 90 days of account opening.
