United Returns to JFK After Five-Year Hiatus

United Airlines has resumed service from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport after an absence of more than five years from the airport. The carrier now is flying five roundtrip flights a week from JFK to each Los Angeles and San Francisco and plans to increase service as demand dictates. United ended its JFK operations in 2015, a move that CEO Scott Kirby has since called a “mistake” as it resulted in lost business from corporate clients who prefer JFK to United’s Newark hub.
