United Airlines has extended the validity of wholly unused tickets through the end of 2022, the carrier announced.

Wholly unused tickets issued from May 1, 2019, through the end of this year are now valid through Dec. 31, 2022. Any unused tickets issued after Jan. 1, 2022, will remain valid for 12 months. ARC, all global distribution system providers and the International Air Transport Association’s Billing and Settlement Plan will recognize that new validity, according to United.

United, along with the other major U.S. carriers, eliminated change fees last year for most fares. Basic Economy tickets are still subject to change fees, but United has waived that fee through the end of 2021.
