CD Projekt has announced that Spokko’s The Witcher: Monster Slayer mobile AR game is expected to launch in Summer 2021.Announced during CD Projekt’s fiscal year 2020 financial results, CD Projekt CFO Piotr Nielubowicz shared that the game, which has already been soft launched in several countries, should have its official release occur in the next few months.“In the past year Spokko – the youngest member of the CD PROJEKT Group – announced The Witcher: Monster Slayer, a location-based AR mobile game,” Nielubowicz said. “Following its soft launch phase, which involved testing in several countries, the game’s official release is fast approaching and we expect it to occur this summer.”

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is being developed by Spokko, a “specialist, independent development studio and part of the CD Projekt family,” and is a free-to-play game that will let players explore the real world to track, study, and fight monsters with AR tech.

Killing monsters will also allow you to take trophies as proof of your victory, as Geralt is known to do in The Witcher games. There will also be story quests based on narratives from the games, and it even takes into account time of day and real-life weather conditions to influence the game.
In our first look at gameplay, we got to see melee combat, magic, some of the monsters players will encounter, and more.
