The Best New Movies To Stream On Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, HBO, Disney+ And Peacock This Week

[ad_1]

Just when you think it’s over? The movies just keep on coming. While the first day of each month always promises the biggest influx of new options, the rest of the month continues to deliver film after film as well. And this week, we can expect 31 new movies from six of the biggest streaming outlets: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBO Max and Disney+.

So which films should you be most excited about? In this article, I’ll detail the most intriguing movies coming to each streaming platform. Then at the end of the article, you can find a full list of every new flick available to stream this week.

The New Mutants (HBO Max)

For years, The New Mutants was stuck in what we call “development hell.” Way back in May 2015, 20th Century Fox finalized a deal with Josh Boone to direct the film. For the next five years, however, the film would go through so many twist and turns (and re-cuts (and reshoots)) that it wouldn’t see the light of day until 2020. And now The Mutants will be available to HBO Max subscribers. The movie centers on five teenage mutants who are forced to undergo treatments at a secret institution.

The New Mutants will be available to stream on HBO Max on April 10.

Thunder Force (Netflix)

Netflix didn’t really did its toe into the superhero arena until recently. After an incredibly successful trial with We Can Be Heroes (which just might be Netflix’s most popular movie ever), the world’s most popular streaming platform is extending its lineup with Thunder Force. Starring Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer, this offbeat superhero flick focuses on two childhood best friends who gain superpowers.

Thunder Force will be available to stream on Netflix on April 9.

Desierto (Hulu)

Alfonso Cuarón has enjoyed an illustrious career filled with award-winning movies, including Roma, Gravity and Y tu mamá también. But did you know his son, Jonás Cuarón, is a filmmaker as well? He only has two features to his name, with Desierto being his most intriguing venture yet. The film tells the tale of a migrant named Moises (played by Gael García Bernal) who guides several people on a journey along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Desierto will be available to stream on Hulu on April 10.

Trollhunter (Amazon Prime)

Found footage often feels like a genre of the past. While there are still several filmmakers who dabble the in the art of found footage these days, nobody is pushing the genre like André Øvredal did back in 2010 with Trollhunter. This thrilling film centers on three student filmmakers who come across a man who hunts trolls for the Norwegian government.

Trollhunter will be available to stream on Amazon Prime on April 7.

Man of the House (Disney+)

Oh man, this one takes me back! Jonathan Taylor Thomas was the child star of my childhood years, and his comedic clash with Chevy Chase in Man of the House was one for the ages. The movie follows Chase’s character Jack, a lawyer who is constantly tortured and sabotaged by his new girlfriend’s son, Ben (played by Thomas).

Man of the House will be available to stream on Disney+ on April 9.

Conan the Barbarian (Peacock)

Before he was Aquaman, Jason Momoa was another legendarily macho figure: Conan the Barbarian. Following in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s footsteps, Momoa takes on playing the powerful Cimmerian warrior in this 2011 version of the film. In Conan the Barbarian, Conan battles the evil Khalar Zym, who seeks the legendary Mask of Acheron.

Conan the Barbarian will be available to stream on Peacock on April 6.
