Taylor Swift Now Claims Three Of The Top Five Bestselling Albums Of 2021 In The U.S.

Taylor Swift rules a number of Billboard charts this week with her latest release Fearless (Taylor’s Version), which opens atop the Billboard 200 with neary 300,000 equivalent units shifted. That sum includes 179,000 pure purchases, as thousands of fans opened their wallets to support the superstar in her latest endeavor, which sees her re-recording her first six full-lengths in order to gain control over her material.

After just one week, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is already one of the bestselling titles of the year in the U.S., and Swift’s latest joins with a pair of other recent releases as some of the most successful in 2021.

According to Billboard, Swift now claims three of the top five bestselling albums of 2021, when looking at actual purchases, as opposed to equivalent units shifted (which include streams as well).

Leading the way among all titles is Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous, which so far is the only effort to sell at least 200,000 copies…though Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is already close to reaching that mark. The country singer-songwriter’s sophomore set, which controlled the Billboard 200 for 10 consecutive weeks, has thus far sold 218,000 copies.

With only seven days of sales data to its credit, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is already the second-bestselling album of the year, as it sold 179,000 copies in its first seven days.

Down to third place (displaced by Swift’s latest) is Carrie Underwood’s My Savior, which has sold 114,000 copies in the few weeks it’s been available.

Rounding out the top five on the ranking of the bestselling albums of the year in America are two additional recent releases by Swift, which are tied with one another when rounding to the nearest thousand copies. The “Willow” star’s two surprise releases from last year, Folklore and Evermore, have both sold another 111,000 copies in 2021 after selling even better in 2020.

These are the top five bestselling albums in the U.S. so far this year.
