Starwood Capital Group has appointed Raul Leal as CEO of SH Hotels & Resorts, the company announced. Leal will begin his new role on Aug. 19. He previously led Virgin Hotels for 10 years as president and CEO, and serves as president and partner at Tecton Hospitality, a hospitality management company with 35 branded and boutique hotels. Leal will succeed Arash Azarbarzin, who will leave SH Hotels & Resorts to pursue a new opportunity, according to the company. Azarbarzin in February had replaced Starwood Capital Group chairman Barry Sternlicht as SH Hotels & Resorts CEO. SH Hotels & Resorts includes the 1 Hotels, Treehouse Hotels and Baccarat brands.
