For Memorial Day, Parade magazine has compiled a list of the top 50 films that “depict war through many different perspectives,” presented in no particular order.
This list, however, is one of the few that delves into multiple decades, rather than dwells on the most recent film offerings. Here’s a partial roster released Friday. For the full list, click on the Parade site.

“The list of best war movies serves as our tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our prolonged times of peace — enjoy them on Memorial Day, Independence Day or any day,” wrote Parade magazine managing editor Neil Pond.
