The New York Yankees are partnering with Amazon
AMZN
to stream nearly two dozen games during the 2021 regular season.

The deal between the Yankees, Amazon, and YES Network will air 21 games on Amazon Prime Video including three games against the Boston Red Sox, two with the 2020 ALCS Champion Tampa Bay Rays, and one game with the crosstown New York Mets.

Financial terms were not released.

The broadcasts will be simulcast games produced by YES airing on PIX11 and other over-the-air partners for Yankees telecasts. The games will only be available regionally via Prime Video in New York state, Connecticut, northeast Pennsylvania, and north and central New Jersey. All games will be at no additional cost for those that have an Amazon Prime membership.

Amazon has recently inked a deal with the NFL to air Thursday Night Football and the partnership with the Yankees shows that they are building out a niche in the streaming services market for live sports content. As part of the deal with the Yankees, Amazon will employ the use of their exclusive X-Ray technology, which allows fans streaming on Android, iOS mobile, and Fire TV to access live in-game stats, team, and player details, and real-time play-by-play information with the broadcast.

Prior to each game will be a 15-minute pre-game show hosted by the YES Network on-air talent.

The first Yankees game on Prime Video is scheduled for Sunday, April 18, when the Yankees host the Tampa Bay Rays.
