Lifetime Television is continuing their franchise of films about the royal couple.

Announced today, they will debut Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace in the fall of 2021.

This film, the third in the series, follows 2018’s Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance, which dramatized the love story of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and 2019’s Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal, which took a look at the couple’s relationships within the Royal Family during their first year of marriage.

This new installment comes on the heels of the tell-all interview given by the former Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which aired on ­­­­­­­March 7th.

In a press release, Lifetime says that, “Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace will reveal what really happened inside the palace that drove Harry and Meghan to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie.”

The network also says the narrative, “will include details about Meghan’s growing isolation, the couple’s disappointment that those in power were not defending them against the press’s attacks, and Harry’s fear that history would repeat itself and he would not be able to protect his wife and son from the same forces that caused his mother’s untimely death. Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace will also reveal the private family feuds between Will and Harry, Kate and Meghan, and Harry with Will and Charles, that lead to the ultimate break from the royal ties.”

Lifetime says that casting is currently underway with production set to begin this spring.

In A Royal Romance, Parisa Fitz-Henley starred as Meghan, with Murray Fraser as Harry, with Tiffany Smith portraying Meghan in Becoming Royal, and Charlie Field playing Harry.

The creative team from the first two films remains in place for the third, with Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss, executive producing, Scarlett Lacey penning the script, and Menhaj Huda directing.

On the air for 35 years, the network has stepped up its production of true-life narrative films, which include releases this year about talk show host Wendy Williams and Grammy winning artists Salt-N-Pepa.

A+E Networks, the parent company of Lifetime, announced earlier this month that they’re producing a two-night documentary event about music icon Janet Jackson to premiere in 2022, coinciding with the 40^th anniversary of the release of Jackson’s self-titled album.

The documentary has with the working title of JANET and will be simulcast on A+E and Lifetime.
