Low-cost carrier Jazeera Airways will begin service to London Heathrow from Kuwait on June 18, the carrier announced.

Jazeera will be the first Middle Eastern low-cost carrier to offer direct service to Heathrow, according to the carrier. Jazeera Airways CEO Rohit Ramachandran cited business travel demand as one of the reasons for adding the route.

The carrier first will operate the service weekly, on Fridays, and add more frequencies as restrictions lift. Kuwait currently is open only to fully vaccinated Kuwaitis, but the country is considering expanding permission to fully vaccinated arrivals from other countries, including the United Kingdom, according to Jazeera.
