Ajay Sharma, who has edited films like ‘Jagga Jasoos’ and ‘Ludo’, died on Tuesday, May 4. His death has come as a big shock to not just Taapsee Pannu and the entire unit of ‘Rashmi Rocket’ but also to many others who knew him in the industry. ETimes has it that Ajay had stabilised on Saturday and was texting and talking to team ‘Rashmi Rocket’ on Sunday saying that he was breathing normally. Pranjal Khandhdiya, the producer of ‘Rashmi Rocket’ (Ronnie Screwvala and Neha Anand are two other producers on the film), when contacted, told us, “Ajay told us over the weekend that his oxygen levels had in fact improved. We got to know this morning that late at 1 am he had collapsed, he just slipped away.”

Pranjal tells us that it was very tough to admit Ajay to a hospital. “Ajay was in Delhi last week when he got infected with COVID. He needed hospitalisation. It was only after Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee tried for hours and hours that they managed to get a bed for him in the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Hospital. We can’t believe he’s gone just when we thought that he’d soon be with us.”

Shriya Pilgaonkar was the first to tweet about Ajay’s demise. Shriya wrote: “Devastated is an understatement. We lost Ajay Sharma today. Not just an incredibly fine editor but an absolute gem of a human being. Nothing makes sense (sic).”

We at ETimes stand by Ajay’s family in their hour of crisis and pray that his soul rests in peace.
