There are no rewards for winning — other than the knowledge that you have claimed victory over your co-op partner — and you can play the minigames as much or as little as you’d like. Each minigame takes about a minute to complete and they’re never more than a quick minigame that requires a button or two to be pressed repeatedly.

The Shed Minigames

Below is a list of each of the minigames that can be found in The Shed level of It Takes Two, including how to find the minigame and how to actually play it.

Whack-a-Cody

The Whack-a-Cody minigame can be found about halfway through The Depths of the Shed — you can’t miss this minigame because Dr. Hakim essentially forces you to play it.

May will stand on top of the box with her hammer. Cody must get inside the box. Basically, the two of your are playing whack-a-mole. Cody pops up using the left stick and May must aim at Cody and press RT/R2 to hit Cody. May gets two points for each Cody hit.

Cody gets +1 points for every (basically) half-second they remain popped up. Whoever fills their bar at the top of the screen first wins.

There’s no reward for winning other than gloating to the person you’re playing with. That feels good so have at it.

Flip the Switch

The Flip the Switch minigame can be found shortly after the first minigame in The Depths — Whack-a-Cody. After Whack-a-Cody, there’s one puzzle to solve. Immediately after leaving that puzzle area, hang a right and follow the pathway. You’ll see a tambourine floating above a large circle of metal.

To begin Flip the Switch, Cody must stand on the small square platform with a yellow circle inside and May must hit the bigger yellow circle in front of it. This raises Cody into the air and formally begins the Flip the Switch mini-game.

May must dash around and hit the targets with her hammer to score points. Cody, on the other hand, must shoot the targets with his nail. Whoever fills the score bar first, wins.

Like every other mini-game in this game, there is no reward for winning other than the sweet, sweet victory you’ve achieved over the other player.

The Tree Minigames

Below is a list of each of the minigames that can be found in The Tree level of It Takes Two, including how to find the minigame and how to actually play it.

Tug of War

About a third of the way through The Tree, you’ll climb up a small tree cliffside and stumble upon a soccer ball. Look to the far left of this soccer ball (if it’s on your right) and you’ll see the tambourine for the Tug of War minigame looking at you.

To begin, both Cody and May must grab separate sides of the the rope and press Y/Triangle repeatedly when the Tug of War begins. Whoever presses it the fastest will pull the other person closer to the hole in the middle, and eventually, into the hole. The person that pulls the other into the hole wins.

There’s no reward for winning, per se, but you do get to watch the lose fall into a hole. So there’s that.

Plunger Dunger

When you get off the blue, floating fish near the end of The Tree level, you’ll be dropped onto solid ground. Directly in front of you is a tambourine and that’s because the Plunger Dunger minigame is nearby.

To play Plunger Dunger, both of you must interact with a gun on either side of the tunnel (see below). The two of you will be aiming at each other — aim with the right stick and shoot by pulling RT/R2. You can charge the shot by holding the trigger.

When the targets begin to move toward you, shoot them with a plunger. This causes the target to flip around and go the opposite direction. You get a point when a target makes it all the way to your opponent’s side.

Whoever has the most points after 60 seconds wins! Congrats! You’re a plunger legend!

Rose’s Room Minigames

Below is a list of each of the minigames that can be found in the Rose’s Room level of It Takes Two, including how to find the minigame and how to actually play it.

Tank Brothers

When you begin the Pillow Fort chapter of Rose’s Room, head forward and keep an eye on the area above you. When you see a pathway that leads up quite close to the beginning of this chapter, head that way and you’ll find a tambourine up there. This is where Tank Brothers is located.

To play Tank Brothers, both Cody and May must interact with the gameboy-like handhelds laying on the ground by the tambourine. When the game begins, you’ll both be in charge of a tank. The objective is to hit the other player three times. Move the tank with the right stick, control its aim (the small white circle on the ground ahead of you determines where the tank projectile will land) and RT/R2 is what’s pressed to shoot.

The first to hit the other player dead-on with three projectiles wins.

Spacewalk

After powering on the first robot in the Spaced Out chapter, the cylindrical tunnels behind the robot will become a space you can float up and down in. Float up and keep an eye out for an opening below the first layer of portals up above. If you see some portals, you’ve gone too high. Head into that opening and go through the portal in there. Head to the tambourine in here to start the Spacewalk minigame.

Cody and May must press Y/Triangle on the small squares by the tambourine. This starts the game. Basically, just jump onto the many floating squares around you. Doing so claims the square for you and gives you one point. You can claim one your opponent has claimed to take that point from them.

Whoever has the most points after 60 seconds wins.

Laser Tennis

Just like the one we previously found in Spaced Out, it can be found halfway up the float tube. As you’re heading up from the first three portals to the next set of portals, look for an opening. It leads to a portal where a minigame can be found.

Head through the portal and walk forward. Both Cody and May should interact with the machine ahead of them to start the match. On the ground is a bunch of squares. When a square lights up, step on it. This sends a laser to your opponent’s side. They must jump over the laser.

Send as many lasers as squares you can step on to make your opponent’s side complete chaos. The player whose health bar is depleted first is the loser. After this, leave the portal and head up to the next set of three portals.

Rodeo

To locate the Rodeo minigame, head to the start of the Hopscotch chapter of Rose’s Room. Head forward and jump over the blocks. You should be in a small square area with a road mat on the ground. In the corner is the tambourine by some bucking broncos.

To start this minigame, Cody and May must press Y/Triangle at the two bulls. When the game begins, the bulls will attempt to knock them off. To stay on, look above the character’s head. You’ll see a button on the controller. Press that button just as the big yellow ring closes on the smaller, white ring.

If the button turns green, you’re good, and if it turns red, that’s one strike closer to falling off. Three red buttons knocks you off. The first to be knocked off loses.

Feed the Reptile

To find the Feed the Reptile minigame, look for the singular cow square on the ground near the end of the Hopscotch chapter’s rail riding segment. Instead of going up the yellow bounce pads behind it, follow the green pathway on the ground around to the reptile heads on the wall.

To play Feed the Reptile, both players must press Y/Triangle on the shooting mechanism by the tambourine. Press Y/Triangle to pick up a ball and throw it into a reptile’s mouth by pressing RT/R2. Aim using the left and right sticks.

Whoever has the most points after 30 seconds win.

Batting Team

The Batting Team minigame is located just after finding the etch-a-sketch in the hopscotch section of Rose’s Room. From the etch-a-sketch, jump along the pathway of floating blocks and keep an eye out for a baseball toy on the right. This is the Batting Team minigame.

To start Batting Team, Cody and May should press Y/Triangle at their respective batter of the toy. To play, press Y/Triangle when the respective ball passes in front of the batter you’re controlling. This causes the batter to hit the ball around the circle. Hit the ball again when it comes back around.

Whoever has the most points at the end of 60 seconds wins the game.
