Western-style boots are in at a lot of places right now (Boden, J.Crew, lots of others), and these polka dot suede ones at Boden are absolutely calling my name. (Even though I often regret buying polka dots!) They feel fun without being TOO twee, and I think the walkable block heel “toughens” up the pattern a bit.

In general, let’s discuss — what makes Western-style boots acceptable or not for business casual or formal offices? For my $.02 I think (as always) if the boots are noisier than others — either because of details on them like rings or even steel reinforcements in places — then you should limit their wear in an office setting. I’d also say that boots, in general, get more casual when the heel is not black or not the same color as the rest of the boot. During my lawyer days I had two pairs of Cole Haan Air Western-style boots that I absolutely adored and wore to death, but I think it was all on weekends (one a grayish black, one a brown).
