Popstar Camila Cabello is all set for her film debut with the upcoming musical ‘Cinderella‘. The makers on Thursday released two photos of the pop star-turned-actress and even announced a September release for the film.

Writer-director Kay Cannon, best known for creating the ‘Pitch Perfect’ franchise, has written and directed the ‘Cinderella’ retelling.

Unlike the fairytale, this retelling will reportedly have modern unique twists and a fresh, empowering perspective that centres on an orphan who longs to meet her Prince Charming.

Cannon’s take on the classic fairytale will reportedly have a soundtrack of pop song covers and original tracks by Cabello and Idina Menzel, who plays her evil stepmother.

Billy Porter is portraying Cinderella’s fairy godparent while Nicholas Galitzine plays Prince Robert, Pierce Brosnan stars as King Rowan and Minnie Driver as Queen Beatrice.

‘Cinderella’, will dodge theatrical release and go for a digital premiere on a streaming platform. Although the film was initially slated for a July release in cinemas, the makers decided to opt for an OTT release due to the less footfall in theatres amid the coronavirus pandemic.
