BTS’s ‘Dynamite’ Video Ties Ed Sheeran And ‘Baby Shark’ For A Prestigious YouTube Honor

The brightly-colored visual for the poppy cut has now racked up an incredible 26 million likes on YouTube. That’s not just a noteworthy accumulation of thumbs-ups, it’s one of the largest ever. In fact, it’s enough for the video to tie as the third-most-liked clip of all time. 

With 26 million likes so far, “Dynamite” is on the same level as two other visual treatments, which are steady at the same figure. Both Pinkfong’s viral sensation “Baby Shark” and Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” have also racked up as many likes on the world’s largest video platform. Any of these titles may actually be ahead of one another, but YouTube doesn’t make the exact number of likes any post has received public. Instead, they’re all rounded to an even million, so, for now, these three are all steady at 26 million.

Leading the way when looking solely at likes on YouTube is Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” which remains the only upload to hit 40 million. So far, the Latin titan has been liked by at least 43 million people. Behind that video comes Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again,” which is comfortable at 33 million likes.

At the rate “Dynamite” is being liked by millions of fans all around the world, it will most likely pass both “Baby Shark” and “Shape of You” sometime soon, at which point it will stand out as the third-most-liked video on YouTube, while the others will be forced to settle for fourth place.

All the plays on YouTube “Dynamite” has earned in the months it’s been out have helped it remain on the Hot 100 ever since it debuted at No. 1 in mid-2020. Views on the video hosting site are counted toward both the singles chart and the Billboard 200 albums ranking, and for BTS, they have made a big difference in helping them score an undeniable hit and live on several Billboard rankings for longer than anyone could have predicted.
