It was revealed on Friday that actor Kartik Aaryan has been dropped from Dharma Production’s much-awaited upcoming film ‘Dostana 2’ which also stars Janhvi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya in the lead roles. The film is being helmed by Collin D’Cunha. It was reported that the actor was fired due to his “unprofessional behaviour”.
DNA also confirmed that Karan Johar’s production house has vowed not to work with actor Kartik Aaryan in ‘Dostana 2’ nor engage with him in any future projects. Dharma Productions on their Instagram page, also confirmed the news and urged fans to wait for further announcement.
Soon after the reports came out, Kartik’s fans on Twitter started to trend him and expressed their disappointment and showed immense support for the ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ actor.
One user blamed the film’s producer Karan Johar and wrote, “This is what Karan Johar has always done to the outsiders and this is what he has done to Kartik Aaryan. But Kartik doesn’t need him he is a brand already and anyone would love to make a film with the heartthrob.”
Another user wrote, “#KartikAaryan has been in the industry for 10 years and till now all have praised him and there was no complaints on his working. #KaranJohar suddenly got a problem with him? After torturing him to bend your ways for this one movie?”
Taking a dig at nepotism in the industry, one user said, “#KartikAaryan My Star didn’t hv any backbone from the industry in the past even he didn’t require such in the future!!! Selfmade Actor….not a NEPO kid.”
For the uninformed, it was in October 2019 that Kartik had revealed in an Instagram post that he had started preparing for ‘Dostana 2’. He was seen holding the film’s script. In subsequent interviews, he had also spoken about the upcoming project and revealed how the role he is about to play will help him push his boundaries as an actor.
