American Express Global Business Travel is working with flight data technology provider Lumo to explore making Lumo’s carbon emission data available at the point of booking, the companies announced. The companies are “exploring the feasibility” of integrating Lumo’s API with Amex GBT’s global booking data platform and “help us build the technology to enable travelers to understand sustainable flight options,” according to Amex GBT VP of sustainability Nora Lovell Marchant. Lumo, which started off as a global flight delay prediction service, announced its new carbon footprint estimation API last June, along with APIs estimating wait times with U.S. Transportation Security Administration and Customs and Border Protection checkpoints.
