You won’t need to worry about maximizing rewards with the American Express Business Gold Card because the card earns four points per dollar in the two categories where your business spent the most each month. Bonus category earnings are limited to the first $150,000 in combined purchases each year. Purchases earn one point per dollar after that. Categories include directly purchased airfare; U.S. advertising in select media; U.S. gas station purchases; U.S. shipping purchases; U.S. restaurant purchases; and directly purchased U.S. computer hardware, software and cloud solutions. All other eligible purchases earn one point per dollar. Annual fee: The American Express Business Gold Card carries a $295 annual fee. The annual fee for The Business Platinum Card from American Express is $595 per year.

Rewards: The American Express Business Gold Card offers four points per dollar in the two categories where your business spent the most each billing cycle. This applies to the first $150,000 in combined purchases each year, and after that, the purchases earn one point per dollar. All other eligible purchases earn one point per dollar. With The Business Platinum Card from American Express, cardholders earn five points per dollar on flights and prepaid hotels when you book on the American Express Travel website. You can earn two points per dollar on travel purchases booked on the American Express Travel website. Purchases of $5,000 or more earn 1.5 points per dollar, for up to 1 million additional points per year, and all other purchases earn one point per dollar.
