Abhishek Verma, Yashaswini Deswal Claim World No. 1 Spots Following ISSF WC Heroics

Owing to their impressive performance in the ongoing ISSF World Cup, being held in New Delhi, India’s 10m Air Pistol shooters Abhishek Verma and Yashaswini Deswal have moved to the number one position in the latest rankings. Meanwhile, Elavenil Valarivan also retained her spot on the Women’s 10m Air Rifle rankings.

On Sunday, Abhishek Verma won the bronze medal in the 10M Air Pistol final of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup where his compatriot Saurabh Chaudhary bagged the silver medal. On the other hand, Yashaswini Deswal bagged the first gold medal for India in the Women’s 10M Air Pistol final. She accumulated 238.8 points to lead in her category. Another Indian shooter Manu Bhaker won a silver medal with 236.7 points.

Another Indian shooter, Elavenil Valarivan, who teamed up with Divyansh singh Panwar to win the gold medal in the 10m mixed air rifle event of the ISSF World Cup also retained her spot on the Women’s 10m Air Rifle rankings, meaning three Indian shooters now hold the top spot.
