The Bestselling Albums Of March In Korea

Despite the fact that it was released on the last day in March, BAEKHYUN’s latest solo EP Bambi still managed to end the month as the bestselling title in South Korea…and it wasn’t even close.

According to data shared by Gaon on its monthly chart of the bestselling albums, Bambi won the race by a massive margin, as the set shipped just under 592,000 copies. That puts it ahead of the runner-up, Super Junior’s The Renaissance, by more than 150,000 copies, an enormous difference. That legendary boy band’s comeback set still sold 433,000 copies in just half a month.

Blackpink member Rosé made headlines all around the world by officially embarking on her solo career with a short single album titled R, which she released in mid-March. It may have only featured two songs, but the project shipped 394,000 copies, and helped her make history as a female soloist with a title so immediately popular.

ATEEZ’s latest EP ZERO _ FEVER Part.2 (the second in that series) benefitted from the fact it was released on March 1, and it sold more than 380,000 copies in its first full month of availability. Less than 40,000 copies behind that project is IU’s Lilac, which debuted at No. 1 just last week, so clearly her ability to sell an album is truly incredible.

Just one other release, WayV’s Kick Back, managed to sell at least a quarter of a million copies in March alone.

BTS’s BE makes it into the top 10 in another month, as the bestseller shipped another 118,000 copies. By the end of April, the boy band’s latest historic release should pass another million units in 2021 alone. It was released in late 2020, and it’s already sold at least three million copies in South Korea.

PENTAGON’s LOVE or TAKE debuts on the Gaon’s monthly albums chart at No. 8 with 88,000 copies sold, SHINee’s comeback project Don’t Call Me dips to No. 9 from No. 2 (where it ranked at the end of February) with another 85,000 copies shipped, while WOODZ’s Set opens in tenth place with just under 80,000 copies.
