Chennai Super Kings’ new recruits Robin Uthappa, Pujara, K Gowtham share their excitement for IPL 2021

With 11 days to go, the eight franchises are gearing up for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chennai Super Kings, led by former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was one of the first teams to start the camp, almost a month before the actual start of the tournament from April 9. Now as the start comes closer and closer, more and more players are out of quarantine and have started the practice to be in-tune before the start of the 52-day long tournament.

CSK‘s trio of new recruits – Cheteshwar Pujara, Robin Uthappa and Krishnappa Gowtham – were all out of quarantine and started their net sessions ahead of their side’s first game on April 10 against the last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals and shared their excitement of being in the yellow jersey.

Ina video uploaded by the franchise the three players could be seen hitting their straps. First asked about being out of quarantine, Uthappa said, “It’s honestly a relief! It is my fourth or fifth quarantine in last 3-4 months.”

Gowtham felt like a free bird, while Pujara was happy just to be back on the field.

The men in yellow, who will be playing their first five games in Mumbai have set up their second camp at the CCI, Brabourne Stadium after their initial camp at their home at Chepauk. 

Sharing their excitement of being in the yellow jersey and playing alongside MS Dhoni, Pujara said, “It’s good to be in the yellow dress. Really looking forward for my stint with CSK.”

While Gowtham suggested that it was his dream to play for CSK and he couldn’t wait for getting tips from the best in the business (Dhoni).

While Uthappa, who was traded from the Rajasthan Royals said that he has been practicing in the yellow for the last month or so. “Enjoying it, looking forward to it and hopefully, I can begin really well.”
