5 K-Pop Releases To Look Forward To In April 2021

At the moment, April looks to be light in terms of major releases from stars in the Western world…but the same can’t be said when looking specifically at the K-pop industry. Between singles, EPs and albums, a handful of bands and soloists are getting ready to make spring their own, and if the month continues to remain fairly quiet in the U.S., it could be a historic time for the South Korean stars.

Here are five of the most highly-anticipated K-pop coming in April.

April 5 – Wendy – Like Water EPAlready one of five members of one of the most successful girl groups in the world right now, Red Velvet, Wendy is embarking on her own journey in just a few days. The singer will drop her debut five-track EP on her own Like Water on April 5, and fans can’t wait to kick off the month right. Wendy has branched out on her own before, but not with a full collection, so this could be the start of something special.

April 9 – SuperM – “We DO”

From the moment they debuted as a new group, SuperM made history as one of the most successful K-pop acts on the planet, as their first EP as a band, a self-titled affair, went right to No. 1 in the U.S. and performed well in countless other territories. That incredible and unexpected success makes them a huge get for any brand, and now one has snapped them up for a very special campaign.

Prudential has recruited SuperM not just for a commercial or a photoshoot, but to record and release a brand new single, which is a massive deal (and likely a big payday). The band will release “We DO” alongside the company as part of its We DO Well Together campaign, which encourages health and wellness in the brand’s Asian customers.

April 12 – SHINee – Atlantis

SHINee’s latest album Don’t Call Me has only been out for a little more than a month, but the South Korean boy band is already gearing up to re-release it. The act is not only adding three new tracks to the title, they’re renaming it Atlantis after one of the trio of unreleased cuts. Fans can get their hands on the longer release on April 12.

April 13 – Kang Daniel – YELLOW

Kang Daniel is set to continue his color-themed run of releases in mid-April with new EP Yellow. The five-song collection follows in the footsteps of both Cyan and Magenta, which dropped in 2020. Lead single “Paranoia” has already peaked inside the top five on the World Digital Song Sales chart in the U.S., so there’s no reason to believe the next focus track, “Antidote,” won’t also be a big success for the singer.

April 30 – ITZY – GUESS WHO

South Korean girl group ITZY is waiting until the end of the month to return with new album GUESS WHO, and though it’s not yet clear how long the project will be, fans are ravenous for tunes they haven’t heard from the band. The group’s last set, Not Shy, arrived last August and it granted them another top 10 on the World Albums chart. GUESS WHO could easily top that win.
